FL was the second state in the country to pass one, triggering copycat bills in Arkansas and a lot of other places. Now they snuck a provision into a completely unrelated bill to push the NIL effective date back to July 1, 2022, which is now sitting on the governor’s desk. And coaches and players in the Sunshine State ain’t happy about it, and want the Gov to veto the bill.
Apparently the legislator who introduced the amendment to an education bill was afraid the NCAA would punish Florida athletes who took advantage of NIL payments. That assumes the NCAA can get its act together enough to do anything.
