Ezell: Other than the shoulder,

why does MLB shy away from him?

Isn’t he expected to make a full recovery?

He’s gotta prove he can throw again. Bad shoulder is what forced Jeff Bagwell (speaking of an undersized first baseman who could hit a little) to retire; by the end of his career, Bag’s arm looked like mine. Someone might sign Ezell as a minor league free agent, or he might try independent ball for the rest of the summer.

Luke Bonfield, another guy without a defensive position, is playing independent ball for the Southern Illinois Miners. They’re playing him in the outfield, but TE can’t throw well enough to play outfield either, and I don’t think any organization is looking for a 5-8 1B.
