Ex-Hogs Irwin, Lawson & Morris make US team for Worlds

The US team for World Track & Field Championships was determined over the last four days in Sacramento during US Championships. Three ex-Hogs will represent Razorbacks on the US team.

Andrew Irwin came in 2nd in Men’s Pole Vault. Sandi Morris won the women’s Pole Vault and Jarrion Lawson won the Long Jump. During the telecast, announcers pointed out they had competed for the Arkansas Razorbacks, which always makes my day.

The Weeks sisters no-heighted in the Pole Vault. This is definitely a step back for Lexi from making the Rio Olympics team last year.

Some other Razorbacks had a good meet. Konzo Cotton made the 200M final and finished last. Chrishuna Williams finished 5th in 800M, Daina Harper finished sixth in 400M final and Alex Gochenour finished fourth in Heptathlon.

As expected Omar McLeod will be in London representing Jamaica and the Razorbacks. Incidentally, last night at Jamaican Championships, Omar clocked 12.90 in 110 Hurdles, the fifth fastest time in history. I am afraid US is about to lose another world record to Jamaica,.

Thanks for the report PJ.
