Put into a medically induced coma for 48 hours and they defibrillated him at trackside. This does not sound good. He was running as a rabbit at the Millrose Games indoor track meet in New York.
Still remember Campbell running out of his mind in the NCAA indoor meet in Fayetteville to get third place points which clinched a national title for the Hogs. IIRC he broke his personal best by about 20 seconds that night.
Saw a post from Sandi Morris on twitter about this. She was really depressed. Induced coma does not look good. I have not seen any news on this today. Do you have an update on this?
Most recent thing I can find is a Tweet from the Jamaican track federation at 4 pm NYC time that he was in a medically induced coma since last night. Obviously he’s in ICU. The hospital was right across the street from the Millrose site.
The Campbell family issued the following statement on Monday morning:
“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Kemoy. We really appreciate all of the love and support we have been getting. Kemoy’s condition has not changed much. He is still sedated so that his body can rest. The doctors are some of the best in the world and are keeping us constantly updated. If there is an appropriate time and we know anything further, we will issue another statement. Thank you for respecting Kemoy’s privacy throughout this difficult time."
Ray the fact that they had to cardiovert him at trackside definitely sounds like cardio. Kemoy’s agent and coach both said he’s now awake, off the ventilator and talking, but doesn’t remember what happened. They are still doing tests to determine the cause of the collapse, according to the coach.
