The 15-day forecast just reached Feb. 16. Of course this can change drastically, but as of now the forecast in Fayetteville that day includes a 30 percent chance of rain with a high of 53 degrees.
We’ve been fortunate to have a lot of unseasonably warm days for the opener. I’m hoping for another.
I’d take that. I have started to look at figuring out an off day in the next couple of weeks. Best to take an off day during the week with so much happening on the weekend. I checked Feb. 14 last night. Great to build a fishing trip into a romantic trip away with Jean Ann. She actually likes it. Sleeps in while I fish. Then, I’ll cook a steak dinner. That couple of days (Feb. 13-14) looks doable. I do not want to fish early in the morning when the guides in my fly rod freeze. You can always swish it in the water when they freeze, but there’s something about doing that over and over that tells you there’s a better place to be!
It’s still 10 days out, but it looks less like ideal conditions now. The chances of rain (and even some snow) have now crept up. It’s winter. No getting around that. I figure they will get to play some baseball, but I will keep the windows closed in the press box! Yes, I’m soft.
I’m praying for sunny and 60’s! Either way when the first pitch heads to home plate I’ll be there!
The cold increasing the chances of injury and also it’s no fun for the players to be miserable.

[/quote]It’s no fun for the spectators either, especially for those of us who stay for the entire game.
