I’ve been meaning to post this but have not had the time.
But I wondered if this coaching bunch knows they are gone at season’s end – thus the logical explanation for that embarrassment and pathetic display to a 1-7 and barely-a-D1 school that Arkansas State blew out 54-17?
As I thought about it, I kept thinking that makes perfect sense. If you know you are gone regardless, and you know you are playing a directional team from nowhere to which your kids are favored to beat by 35 – it might lead one to not give much of an effort in terms of game prep. It might turn down one’s intensity and desire…
I get why you feel that way, but most coaches are eternal optimists who think they are “one break” away from turning around the season and going on a long winning streak. I think the Coastal Carolina performance was more an indictment of the level of talent we have recruited. You honestly couldn’t tell which team was SEC and which team represented the Sun Belt.
