and will probably be getting a raise…
Did they offer the Governorship too?
Brian is too honest to be the Governor of Louisiana.
Like Jimbo, he’s basically can’t be fired for poor or mediocre performance for the next four or five years.
Al Capone was too honest to be governor of LA.
Not quite like that anymore - but the damage was already done…
Oh, I know, but it’s still fun to poke at LA.
As I read that I could not believe we are talking about a football coach. Hey, if he gets paid that, then so be it. More power to him.
Always thought he is a good coach. I am sure LSU will buy anything he needs.
Social media has some similar large $ items for Lincoln Riley’s move to USC. Been waiting to see if they are confirmed before sharing but even some of good spilled over to coordinator positions.
Kelly has to pass a background check???
How about his players?
Good one. Start with their basketball group.
Start with Will Wade…
What is the over/under for years he coaches at LSU?
It will be interesting to see how he handles an SEC west-type schedule—going to be tougher than playing the Military Academies every year.
He is going to do just fine. He will win a National Championship at LSU. If you think he isn’t a better coach than the last two nimrods who coached there, I don’t know what to tell you. They both won Titles. His only real competition is Bama. There are obviously others who can beat LSU on a good day but his true competition is Nick Saban and Alabama. He wants a chance to play Nick and Bama with SEC athletes. His memory is short and he is a competitor. He would like to get Nick once before they both retire. I think Kelly will make it happen. I think they hit a home run and made Sam’s job a little harder for next fall and beyond.
Everybody talking about Kelly will get better players at LSU and that’s true but he’s also going into a conference where the players he’s playing against are better than anywhere he’s ever been. He will do okay but will not do what Saban has done at Alabama and that’s what some LSU people think he will do
I agree with you, Beef, but I do have concerns about culture fit. LSU isn’t just the south, it’s unique and odd and has historically been very corrupt. actively, obviously, blatantly corrupt for the basketball team. with major infractions “currently under investigation”-darius Guice, the abuse of coeds, the hospital admin who embezzled money to buy recruits.
so I agree Kelly is a very good coach, but man, what a cesspool down there. Certainly interesting to observe.

Huey Long built LSU with the money he secured from Esso–precuror to Exxon. Al Capone might have been his caddy when he was ruling La.
Speaking of Capone, anyone who has stayed at the Arlington hotel in Hot Springs in the past knows Capone has a suite on 4th or 6th floor (memory fails me now) overlooking Central Ave named after him–plaque on door. Hot Springs was lively place back in 30’s until Rockefeller shut it down in 1967.
The Southern Club and The Vapors were bringing in Vegas headliners as entertainment and running gambling halls big time.
The Tussaud Wax Museum is in the old Southern Club building and they have some old photos an memorabilia in there. Fascinating history in Hot Springs.
One of the items is the Member List of the Southern Club. Full of names from Dallas.
The Ohio Club on Central still has bullet holes in the ceiling! great bar, great place, btw. oldest continually running bar in AR. great photos of all the old gangsters who used to haunt the place, and the Capone statue outside.
