Has Texas State, Missouri State and other offers.

Saw Darius as a sophomore and thought he had a chance to be pretty good.

Will his position be QB?

I saw Darius play every game this season. He missed three with a knee injury he suffered at the end of the regular-season win at Bryant, then returned for the Bentonville game in mid-October. He has the ability to run, but is patient and looks to pass more than the chance to run. He almost never was sacked. I didn’t think he looked as quick after suffering the knee injury as he did before it, but he still made some plays with his feet late in the year.

Remember that defensively the 7A-West does not have a lot of great defensive players. The defenders in that conference typically are playing at the FCS or D-II level in college. One exception this year was Kendall Young at Bentonville West, and Bowers was injured for that game. He did see some good defenders against Vianney in Missouri (it has a safety committed to Notre Dame) and twice against Bryant, but typically he had a good athletic advantage over the defenders he faced.

One thing that stands out to me about Bowers is his accuracy. He threw a lot of short, quick routes at Fayetteville, but he also was pretty accurate when he was asked to throw down the field. There was one game late in the year when he completed his first 18 passes.

He is a smart kid. I think there have been at least two Ivy League schools inquire about his interest in playing football. I am pretty sure he has been offered by Southern Miss and heard at one point he had an offer from a school in the MAC, but I can’t recall which one.
