The Arkansas women placed 19th.
The Arkansas men placed 5th. It is a good result except for being beaten by Ole Piss. Note: the win by Northern Arizona was not a real shocker, but it was the first time in many years that a school outside of the power five conferences has won.
After doing a little research, it seems that the last time a school outside of the Power 5 won, it was UTEP in 1983. That result was noted as vacated. UTEP won titles from 1975 through 1983, with only Oregon (1977) and Wisconsin (1982) winning during that time frame. The list that I found only showed the winners.
I can’t believe you’re taking the cross out of cross country. It’s a war on hilly, distance running.
There, I changed it. Is that better?
BTW, from what I saw (the coverage was terrible, the streaming kept freezing) there weren’t many, if any, hills. It looked more like a winding and windy course.
I was Jk, Marty. Thanks for the updates.
Northern Arizona was ranked #1 coming in, so not a surprise at all. And Flagstaff, where NAU is located, is a high altitude training center (6,900 feet) for elite athletes from all over the world. Go out for a run, see a few Olympians.
