Very interesting. If Calzada is going to have a game in which he suddenly improves by leaps and bounds, it is unlikely to be against a Barry Odom designed defense. They mentioned only Trelon and KJ when discussing our running game. Trelon has been hampered by injuries and they seemed to discount KJ’s running as a mere distraction. Our backup running back lineup is varied in skills, numerous, dangerous, and ready to contribute. Not a word about them. They were dismissive of Treylon Burks, good but not great, obviously being unaware of the early injuries that slowed his integration into the full plan. The program delivered its verdict, but they were unable to comprehend it. It is plain the pair were desperately attempting to make sense out of (perceived) nonsense and to verify their own preconceived ideas. Penalties could change the outcome and, of course, the program doesn’t know about Stromberg and Wagner.
I quit listening when he said “Burk” is a good SEC receiver who might be drafted in the NFL.
When searching for good information and analysis on any issue via the internet, you’ll find some obvious dead ends. The Football Nerds are now in my trash basket.
They couldn’t accept coldly subjective information. It was much like some sites I checked out to compare relative line strengths in the SEC. Totally worthless. Just based on last year. None factored in the improved depth of our defensive line. Lazy sports “journalism”. Instead of digging deeper to find out how it could truly be valid, the nerds acted with confirmation bias, based on the past several years’ history. I wonder if they even watched the entire Texas and Georgia Southern games and saw the waves of young running backs. And don’t forget Cam Little kicking FGs and Vito kicking off. Eliminating returns can be a relief, consistently making for a long field. Of course, you have to score to take advantage of that. Bottom line, depth almost everywhere, something we haven’t seen for years. Sure would be helpful to have Stromberg and Wagner there.
