Coach Anderson Thursday PC tidbits...

• Individual workouts start next week. Conditioning starts about a month before practice starts on

• Obviously he thought the practices and games in Spain was a valuable benefit for the team.

• Likes the non-conference schedule. Noted to look at the teams, not at the names of the school. Believes it will be a great schedule for Arkansas to get them ready for SEC play.

• Biggest takeaways from Spain were how deep the team, how athletic they are and how much better defensively they are.

• Loves the fact that his team lost the first game over in Spain, but responded to adversity in a positive manner with three successive blowouts following that up.

• Platooned the first game, but then settled in on starting lineup and sub rotation in the last three.

• Looking forward to playing Texas in Houston, good friends with Longhorns head coach Shaka Smart and hopes that the two schools can get a long-term series going

• Feels like there is a lot of positive momentum in the program now in terms of recruiting, what he has on campus and what he will have in the future.

• Players have been living in gym.

• Coach A believes Anton Beard has grown both personally and on the court after his legal issues. Believes he looks like the guy he was as a freshman and has responded to the challenge of the talented guards that have been brought in.

• Believes team is going to be a hard-working bunch and he really likes them now. Noted he may not in two months, but he does now.

• The NCAA allows you to have 30 practices in 42 days before the season starts meaning that Arkansas could start official practice as early as Sept. 29.

But Coach Anderson said he didn’t want to start that early and have so many days off.
