Clay Henry on Blaine Knight's obsession with ducks and baseball

Don’t you just love a down to earth kid who likes wholesome outdoor activities? That picture with the girlfriend is really great. Kinda like having a wife who knows how to bait a hook.

I think that’s a great way to describe Blaine: down to earth. There are a lot like him on this baseball team year-in and year-out. I think it’s a reflection of the coaches.

Clay, that is an awesome article. I’m too old to duck hunt anymore, but understand Baline’s passion for the sport. I also understand his talent and competitiveness in baseball. GHG!

I like to duck hunt, too. So we had a good visit. We just sat and talked for about 90 minutes. I don’t think he was ready to stop and neither was I, but another player was waiting on me. There are some good people on this team. They get along and work hard together. There are those that do hunt and some that would rather just shoot hoop in their time off. Then there are those like Jax Biggers that you have to run out of the practice facility because he’s going to keep hitting or setting up a machine to shoot ground balls to him. Dave Van Horn said, “We just have to send home at times.”

Ah…Bayou Meto…fun times but luckily growing up in Arkansas County I did not have to fight those crowds to hunt. I spent most of my time on the other side of DeWitt closer to Ethel, where my Dad’s family grew up. I am always amazed when I am around the country and people know where DeWitt is solely because of duck hunting.

I end up near Tischnor more often than by Lodge Corner.

Clay, I finished the season near there. We got 12 mallards.

I will write a column on my duck hunting trips next week.
