Chicago Cubs medical staffer joining Hogs

During the Cubs’ telecast tonight against the Rockies, the broadcast team gave a special shout out to Mark O’Neal, their Director of Medical Administration and former Head Athletic Trainer who they said is taking a job at the University of Arkansas (where he graduated). They weren’t specific on the job he was going into but gave him a “Go Hogs!”

Trying to remember, is it Dave England that’s stepping down after this year? Would he be taking over that position, or has there been any announcement about O’Neal?

I think he is replacing Dave England as the lead basketball trainer.

That is accurate. One of my best friends in college and somebody I have stayed in contact with over the years.

He was with the Cardinals and then left for the Cubs for more money - ugh.

I will have to send him through one of these pressure washers up here to get the “Cub” off of him, but glad he is coming back.
