The big concern for me next year was the defense. But with these unexpected returnees and good gets from the portal, it’s starting to look like this defense is going to be pretty solid.
Makes sense for Catalon to come back, after missing most of this year, didn’t really see him as a high draft pick or even a low pick. Possibly even not drafted. A stellar 2022 season could raise his draft stock considerably.
Since he’s returning, anyone know if it’s possible he plays in the bowl game?

This could be 2 more wins than expected without him! With what we are losing after this season, I was thinking about a small step back in 2022. Now, I’m thinking about another step or 2 forward.

I don’t think he had much of a choice. I do not think he would have been drafted high enough to warrant leaving early. He’s missed significant time three of the last four years. He needs to show the NFL that his body will hold up. He missed his senior year, most of his freshman season and half of his redshirt sophomore year. He was terrific as a redshirt freshman in 2020. He needs more tape, more proof that his body will hold up against the freaks in the NFL.
Yeah I hope he goes ahead and gets that shoulder fixed ASAP so hopefully he can be ready to go by camp

That’s my concern. The guy can really, really play, but he needs to play a lot of snaps over almost all the games next year to show he can hold up.
If he’s dinged again he still will have a pretty good chance to make a roster and be a special teams demon, but DBs have to look like potential starters to make really good money on that first contract.
Let’s hope M Brown decides to return as well.
