I think covid hurt Cason’s chances in Fayetteville. He was going to get some playing time in 2020, but the season was suspended before he could make it back from an arm injury.
Arkansas State is getting a high-character player. He had some options at bigger programs, but wanted to stay close to home and work with A-State’s catching coach. I think he’ll earn the starting job in Jonesboro.
He had to have been pretty far down on the depth chart. I’m sure Leach is ahead of him. Can’t recall others off the top of my head, but I had to think who Cason was when I read this post. I hope he does well even if I do not wish that program well. Would have preferred to see him go to UALR or UCA
