Brandon Nimmo

Arkansas has missed on some great players who decided to go pro instead of college during the Dave Van Horn years, including Chris Davis, Greg Bird and Michael Fulmer. But I’m convinced losing Brandon Nimmo was the biggest draft casualty because of what kind of bat he could have added to a great team in 2012.

Anyway, he made his return “home” tonight by playing in Denver. He grew up in Cheyenne and was a Rockies fan as a child. He said he bought 75 tickets for family and friends.

In his first career at-bat at Coors Field, he hit an inside-the-park home run.

Another thing to note on Nimmo: Before he made it to MLB he spent his off-seasons working out with former players in Fayetteville, notably James McCann. They became close friends during Nimmo’s recruiting process.

The draft can cost you a few good ones!
It is nice to see him go home and play on the show in front of his family

I didn’t realize Greg Bird was one of the ones that got away. I remembered Nimmo though.

Nimmo hit another home run later in the same game last night.
