Right now, 10 of the 14 schools are bowl eligible, with Arkansas out and the winner of the Tennessee-Vanderbilt game in, the other out. That leaves only Mississippi, which can’t go bowling, even with an improbable win over Miss State on Thanksgiving Day. With bowl money distribution, that will put money in all the schools’ pockets, but it does give a good indication of which programs are hurting. Without those extra practice days that come from bowl preparation, we will once again be dependent on having a good spring to set up the fall camp and 2019. A big push to the finish line in recruiting, leadership from next year’s seniors, focus on off-season fitness, and a “gut check” as CCM put it will be required to set them up for success in spring. I can hardly wait. Meanwhile, I’m happy basketball season is here.
