Blake Wiggins is back at Arkansas

Blake is an infielder from Little Rock who was the state’s player of the year as a senior in 2014. He played in three games for the Razorbacks in 2015 before transferring last season to College of Southern Nevada.

In JUCO last season, he batted .315 with 12 home runs and 59 RBI in 55 games. With his bat and his ability to play third base, he may be a big addition to the team.

I am so glad to see this. He was committed to the Hogs since the 9th grade.

Why did he leave and come back? Grades???

Blake actually received a medical redshirt for his first year, so he has three years of eligibility remaining, but will be draft-eligible in 2017.

He left because he thought he could play third, but the coaches didn’t see it. I was told he initiated the call with coaches asking if he could come back. Now that he’s back, he’s going to get a chance at third, but may also get a look at catcher and first base.

Where did he play in the field last season at S. Nevada? How did he do in the field?

EDIT Never mind . . . looked it up . . . fielding % was a brutal .938 as an infielder/catcher last season. Maybe more of a DH option?

He’ll also get a look in the outfield.
