Big Ten commish in favor of CFP quarterfinals on campus

Which I’ve been expecting. Allowing the 5 seed to play on campus in the first round, but not the 4 seed in the quarterfinals, seems… weird.

I’m sure some will decry this as a further blow to the bowl system, but really the bowl system is screwed anyway unless a bowl is part of the playoffs. It draws a few fans who want a trip to Tampa or Vegas or Memphis during the holidays, and the networks like having relatively cheap holiday programming (especially ESPN which owns a number of the bowls), but the players bailing out tells you what they think, and that’s not going to change.

However, Greg Sankey is still in favor of keeping the quarterfinal games in bowls.
