Watching Flowers, Wise and Derby on Sunday Night Football got me thinking:
Flowers and Wise were already Hogs before CBB, but did his development system make them better NFL players?
CBB has been pretty successful at putting players in the NFL during his time here. The players with the NFL type frame, speed, and skill set make teams. So, has the problem been not recruiting enough players with NFL potential?
List of current NFL players signed after CBB’s hire:
Alex Collins
Hunter Henry
AJ Derby
Denver Kirkland
Dan Skipper
Martrell Spaight
Drew Morgan
Jeremiah Ledbetter
Cody Hollister
Current NFL players signed by Petrino, but in CBB system:
Travis Swanson (Sr)
Darius Philon (R-Fr in CBB year 1)
Jeremy Sprinkle (R-Fr)
Deatrich Wise (R-Fr)
Jonathan Williams (So)
Mitchell Loewen (So)
Keon Hatcher (So)
Brandon Allen (So)
Trey Flowers (Jr)
Sam Irwin-Hill (Jr)
I did not realize that Drew Morgan was on an NFL roster. Then again the NFL is dead to me, so I would probably be unaware if he was leading the NFL in receptions and receiving yards.
Arkansas does not have the linemen this year that is has had in the past. How many on this year’s team might be on such a list in three years? Ragnow and Agim are the only ones that come to mind. Maybe Froholdt.
The same could be said of a lot of position groups.
