I saw a story today discussing the best touchdowns in Ohio State history.
What would you consider to be the greatest touchdowns ever at Arkansas?
My thoughts are that any touchdown with a name have to be on the list: Powder River Play, the Miracles on Markham and the “immortal” Teddy Barnes score against Texas A&M.
Game winners by Robert Farrell at Texas A&M in 1977, J.J. Meadors at Alabama in 1995, Anthony Lucas against Tennessee in 1999 and Greg Childs at Georgia in 2010 come to mind.
Then there are the great individual efforts like several of the Darren McFadden runs, the Joe Adams punt return against Tennessee or the C.J. O’Grady play against Colorado State last year.
One of my all time favorites was the one against LSU, at the end of the first half when everyone (including me) expected us to take a knee, but went for 80 yards and a TD.
The long touchdown from Brad Taylor to Derek Holloway in the 1981 Gator Bowl (aka the Fog Bowl). Still don’t know how Holloway could see that ball through the dense fog.
Even though we lost that game, that was one of my favorite Hog teams because we beat Texas 42-11 that season.
All that have been mentioned were special. I especially loved The Redemption against Tennessee and that time We Didn’t Come to Paint with the Sugar Bowl on the line.
The one that always comes to mind first, is JJ Meadors td winning catch against Bama. One reason it comes to mind was where I saw the game.
It was the weekend of the Harley Poker Run to Key West. A couple who road down with my wife and I were sitting with us at a table at Rick’s. There was a table next to us with 4 Bama fans. They were, of course, obnoxious and couldn’t believe there could be a Hog fan in Key West. I had consumed enough beer to be a little obnoxious myself.
I was screaming TD, TD. They were screaming trap, no catch. The couple with us and my wife were trying to calm me down. My friend, afterward said he sure thought we were going to have to fight those 4 Bama guys.
