BB seems slow to make changes

some questions? these seem obvious but took to long to answer…

Why has McFain not been the placekicker for years?
Why did take so long to realize Colton Jackson what not the answer?
Why was Ledbetter moved inside when he’s better at DE?
Why was Sosa not inserted earlier?
Why is the only burner we have in Reed not used more ? he could have had multiple catches vs LSU…?
Why have we just now discovered the screen pass?

Why has McFain not been the placekicker for years? He had the job in previous years and couldn’t hold on to it due to inconsistency. Plus Hedlund beat him out in the spring and fall.
Why did take so long to realize Colton Jackson what not the answer? We haven’t been very good on OL no matter who was out there.
Why was Ledbetter moved inside when he’s better at DE? Dunno
Why was Sosa not inserted earlier? He was inserted earlier and kinda played his way out of the rotation.
Why is the only burner we have in Reed not used more ? he could have had multiple catches vs LSU…?Reed has had major problems with a little item called catching the ball.
Why have we just now discovered the screen pass?I’ve been asking that question for about four years through multiple OCs.

McFain tore a muscle in his quad and took a while to recover from it. Once he was healthy, it was obvious he was the better kicker.

Reed’s issues go beyond catching the ball. He is not disciplined, according to the coaches, and he loses playing time because of it. I would suspect he’ll be limited this week. He caught the touchdown against LSU on Saturday, then showed up late for a team meeting Sunday - a perfect example of the frustration the coaches have with him.

Ledbetter was moved inside to enhance the pass rush. A good 3-technique player will do that, and Arkansas has a lot of experience at the end positions. Ledbetter was maybe the best defensive player in the spring, but in retrospect that probably had some to do with the opposing offensive line.

I think Matt answered most of them. The Colton Jackson situation seems pretty obvious, too. Johnny Gibson was inconsistent in his early chances to win time in practice. He was in the doghouse in the summer for lack of proper weight room work ethic. An offensive lineman can’t slack in the weight room. Jake Raulerson wasn’t here until late in the summer. Brian Wallace was inconsistent and not getting it done in practice throughout camp. He had a hard time focusing after a few plays and wasn’t playing hard throughout scrimmages. So who do you play to start the season? It had to be Colton Jackson – until Wallace and Gibson began to take hold with consistent practices.
