The Walker Foundation has pledged $5 million toward the construction of the new baseball facility. It does not appear this is for naming rights to the facility.
One of the ideas is to build a locker room for pro players who come back to work out in the indoor facility during the winter months. This is an exciting prospect from a lot of different angles. I had been told that Johnny Mike Walker was on board from the start. The Walkers have always been willing to help baseball in about any way possible and that dates back to Norm DeBriyn’s relationship with all members of the family. I imagine Norm is smiling about this project. Norm is low key and doesn’t want any credit, but he should get it because Johnny Mike is doing this in large part because of his love for Norm.
