Neither team played one of their better games but the Hogs got some good bench help and held on for a great win. I didn’t think they could win this game. Glad I was wrong!! They should make the tourney now. That will keep MA around another year.
as big of a win as we have had all year. Dustin Thomas has really stepped up the last 2 games with his rebounding and shooting, both from the field and line. Jones continues to be the X-factor, every game he scores in double figures we win. glad to see him hit some shots, especially on road. Bailey also really bowed his neck and got some garbage baskets and rebounds. hopefully the confidence is building for the hogs. here’s hoping we finish strong and can play our way out of the 8-9 game in the NCAA’s. the committee loves to put us there though, i can tell you if we’re hot, no 1 seed wants us in round of 32. go hogs
That was a huge win on the road by our Hogs today against one of the best defensive teams in the SEC.
The ability to have Gafford stay out of early fouls trouble is going to be key the rest of the season, him being on the floor just opens up more offensive options for all of our guys, not to mention his ability to block or alter shots in the lane.
It was great to get contributions from Jones, Thomas and Bailey and if they could continue to be counted on for 20 plus points per game that would be very valuable in every remaining contest.
Like I said at the start of the season I believed this squad would be .500 plus or minus one in conference play, that looks to be about right with two games remaining. If they are able to get to 10-8 that would be 1 win better that I felt was possible and I would be very pleased with that result.
I think it would be great if they could get into the top four and get the double bye in the SEC Tournament, but it’s still quite bunched up at this point which speaks to the balance within the league this year, which I also said would be the case.
So, all in all the season is playing out about the way I expected and we should now be a lock for the NCAA Tournament, if we can finish strong we could possibly be the fourth highest seeded SEC team in the brackets.

To start off we need Auburn to beat Florida tonight!

FL plays AUB, @Bama, KY
So KY or FL will have at least 8 losses. If AUB or Bama beat FL, I think FL will beat KY at FL.
Moo U, has TN next. If we beat AUB, we may end up the 3 seed going into next Sat, but I don’t want to get to far ahead, we HAVE to beat AUB
A great road win altho I guess every road win is great. Very comforting that bench played well and the we won in spite of Barford and Macon having an off night (Macon was leading scorer but had a weak shooting night). You have to believe those two will have a better performance in their final Bud Walton appearance. And when that happens and the bench contributes it should be a good game. Hopefully the crowd will be into it! WPS!!!
Good win, at times defense really looked good, we have to make a conscious decision to have a better shot selection, taking better shots will lead to making more shots. Good job today by coaches & players ! WPS
Kudos to Bailey, Thomas, and Jones. They were the reason we pulled this out today. Our starters didn’t have their best games, but still did what they normally do.
I think for the offense to improve the pass down low to Gafford when he is doubled need to be throw. Back out to the open man. Watch tape or something. I thought Macon was fouled tonight while putting up a 3 and he only took 2 free throws.
The dribble is slow on offense. To get a true advantage the quick pass moves the the quicker and also moves the defense. Too many times tonight I thought the hogs were trying to knock a hole in the court with the ball!
Bardford did not press the issue to score. He let other players score and played solid Defense. When he needed to he put that 3 up and in. Like everyone mentioned Thomas, Adrio and CJ were huge.
I’m suprised we took this one on the road.

That’s a huge part of this win. It took a team effort. We had a few rebounds that ended up as turnovers by knocking teammates out of bounds or by not using 2 hands and bing strong with the ball.
The hogs need a top 4 seed for the SEC tournament and to get it they need to win out and get a little help.

We could tie one team and get the 4 seed but if we are tied with 2 teams we will get the 5 seed.
win our remaining 2 games and wait and see. By Tuesday night part of the results we will all know.
Army, I think we need to win out to get a Top 4 seed. If we do, you’re correct we need 2 teams to lose. Now either FL or KY will have a loss (they play each other next Sat). In my opinion the best scenario for us is as follows: We win out. KY wins out. TN wins out (beating Miss St Tuesday). FL loses out (@ Bama on Tues, KY on Sat). AUB finishes 1-1 (obviously losing to us). But if I’m correct that means AUB is the 1 seed. TN would be the 2 seed. KY the 3 seed, and us the 4 seed. But the two losses by FL would put them in KY/TN side of the bracket. Which means KY, FL, TN would be on the opposite side of the Bracket than us. We would have Missery, Mistake, and AUB. I’d rather have those three, easier path to the title game. Also, I think TN can beat KY in STL. I’d rather play TN than KY
You have it Bake. I also think if the hogs beat Auburn at home this week and Missouri next Saturday and the hogs end up as the 4 seed! That would be ideal if we win the first game. Auburn short bench and 24 hr turnaround I like the hogs chances of putting it on them. I don’t think Kentucky would beat Tennessee in a 2-4 matchup. Tennessee would pack it in and make them take shots outside.
The hogs just need to win 4 games to get a decent seed. Maybe even a 6 seed.
