Let me preface this by I am shocked that Gus’s disciples in NWA, some in the media, are not yet out in force.
But remember all the uproar, outrage and hand-wringing when Gus beat us in the recruitment and stole Kiehl Frazier from us…we had to “settle” for Brandon Allen?
I have no use for Saint Gus the Hypocrite. I’d be pleased if he went 1-11 every year, except when an extra Auburn win or two would benefit the Hogs. And the sooner he’s out of college football the better.
Well, I’ve got Auburn friends that are great people and way better than some you run into in the SEC, so I can’t help but root for them when it is to our benefit or unrelated. The thing is for Gus, and what happens a lot — promoted one level past his capabilities — happens everyday in real life. People in NWA have a tie to him that the rest of us don’t. He is now the enemy, and not a great head coach. This loss and a couple more, and he can go back to where he has talent — as an OC.
Hey ---- credit where credit is due. Gus and Rhett kicked our butt. Seems like he has it going his way.
I don’t know Gus Malzahn, but the guy has been a good coach every where he has been. His Springdale HS team won the state championship, Tulsa led the nation in offense when he was the offensive coordinator. As an offensive coordinator at Auburn his team won a National Championship, and his first year at Auburn he won an SEC Championship and got to the National Championship game. Those are pretty impressive credentials.
Why the jealousy for Gus? I am serious…his track record is pretty danged impressive.
Auburn, coached by Gus, just beat us 56-3…56-3!!!
We probably should have hired the guy, but Jeff Long, being a yankee, probably didn’t even have him on his wish list.
Yeah, he is such a great person that he didn’t stand up for what was right and what was wrong at Auburn when Cam Newton’s dad was being paid. He was a part of that asterick national championship and that jaded me on him. He doesn’t walk the walk he publicly proclaims.
Auburn and Gus were THE cellar dweller in 2015 in the SEC West — Last, just a fact — with a great recruiting class — but I hate to interject facts into a good argument. Gus is like the second string QB on a bad team ---- everybody loves him. He is in the best place for him. Would suck after about 2 years here because no recruiting base for his football.
from Auburn in mid-season. And then he had an open date and then a date with the Hogs. He is now riding high. Funny how that works, but here in Alabama talk radio before and during that open date week had the Gus Bus fueled up for the trip to anywhere but this State. His hot seat was smoking and flaming.
