It sure looked like an out at first.
TV made the point that the umpires weren’t necessarily seeing that view. I probably would have said out based on that replay.
I will say this: I think Jeff Head, the crew chief, is a really good umpire - probably the best in the SEC.
They over turned a call early today at second base that the runner was called safe and clearly the base runners hand was on the bag before the tag. And the second basemen was blocking the bag. I thought the slide rule made it to where a catcher could not block home plate. I was also under the impression that applied to the bases as well. Oh course over the weekend there was an SEC game where a catcher did block home plate while he was receiving the throw.
