and at Bama -- defections

Tuscaloosa News mentioned today that Bama has lost Aaron Sterling from Stone Mountain, GA; he’s a 4-star defensive tackle. Not sure that Sterling has any other favorites at this time.

This leaves Bama with one committed DL–namely, Akial Byers from Fayetteville–and their present total of 20 commits brings them down from the lofty No.1 recruiting ranking.

The News also mentioned that Sterling is the fourth State of Georgia recruit to decommit from the Tide this year; two flipped to Georgia and Rivals100 safety Xavier McKinney from Roswell dropped from the Tide to reopen his recruiting. The News reported that several of the Tide’s present commits are taking official visits to other schools. (Didn’t think SabaNation liked that too much?)

Bama has many 4 and 5 star DL they intend to bring on campus for visits, several of which are committed to other schools.

Even Saban has to play the game like everyone else when it comes to kids taking OVs. Not sure what’s up but checking with a Bama source.

I was told Bama was lukewarm on the last kid that reopened his recruiting. Bama probably showed it in their communication and the kid got the signal.
