Analyzing Arkansas' win over Austin Peay

I hit on the Razorbacks’ troubling turnover numbers, Mason Jones’ return, Desi Sills finding his touch from deep at the right time and looked ahead to Western Kentucky on Saturday:

Good article. :+1::+1:

The turnovers against AP were a huge issue. During our 8 games we’ve averaged nearly 58 FGAs per game, last eve we hoisted up 46. At a 44% average made, that’s at least 12 lost points. Surely APs defensive tenacity played a role (they had several solidly built athletic guards), but the win margin could have (or should have) been closer to 20 points.

My question is why did the Hogs play so carelessly against AP, who entered the game as #260 in schedule strength and a team that was blasted by WKU, our next opponent?

I had same questions. TO’s certainly contributed to fewer FGA’s, but in addition, I was frustrated that on multiple possessions, it seemed we were far too hesitant to finsish drives into the lane or even all the way to the basket. There was a lot of “I’ll take the shot…no you take the shot”, and the end result was that either no one took the shot (TO), or ultimate long range shots were missed.
