An in-depth look at Arkansas' 3-point shooting numbers

Was finally able today to catch up on cataloging shots for each player for each game this season. Dove into some of the Razorbacks’ 3-point shooting numbers afterward:

• Arkansas as a team is 32 of 100 on catch-and-shoot 3s this season and 10 of 47 on off-the-dribble 3s. It is 15 of 64 on CnS 3s in the last 5 games and 4 of 25 on OTD 3s in the last 4 games.

Eric Musselman said this week he wants to see less OTD 3s and more corner 3s moving forward.

• JD Notae is 9 of 30 on CnS 3s and 6 of 25 on OTD 3s. He is 2 of 18 on CnS 3s in the last 5 games and 4 of 17 on OTD 3s since the opener.

• Davonte Davis is 4 of 11 on CnS 3s and 0 of 2 on OTD 3s. He is 0 of 5 on CnS 3s in the last 4 games.

• Stanley Umude is 5 of 12 on CnS 3s and 0 of 1 on OTD 3s. He is 3 of 6 on CnS 3s in the last 2 games.

• Connor Vanover is 1 of 9 on CnS 3s. He has missed his last 7 CnS attempts.

• Jaxson Robinson is 3 of 9 on CnS 3s and 0 of 1 on OTD 3s.

It’s just bad. Worst I’ve seen in several seasons.

The free throw shooting is bad too! They sure need to improve.
They need to cut the turnovers down you sure can’t win coughing up the rock and shooting that poorly from 3! They will have to rely on their defense to win a lot of games.

Arkansas actually ranks 30th nationally in offensive turnover percentage (15.2), per KenPom. That’s not bad, and it’s the best mark of any of Musselman’s teams here. I think he’s upset about the kinds of turnovers the team is making – careless, unforced, traveling, etc.

The hogs may need every possession to at least launch a shot to have a chance to win some games.

FT% is .685. Not great but it has been worse. The national average is .705 according to Pomeroy. In other words, if we’d made one more FT per game, we’d be shooting .734 which would be top 100 nationally.

I actually think we are a pretty good FT shooting team. We just had one bad game where we weren’t.

Really one bad half; the second half we made 5 of 6 against UCA.
