almost perfect game...

from a coach’s standpoint.

Injured players played. hit free throws in general and in the clutch. cj scored. team built nice lead, had a mental lapse combined with Ole Mrs hitting lots of 3’s to make it interesting, then the team woke up and closed it out.

got a W, got injured players back, got lots of “coachable” moments.

As Gas always says…Never a doubt!

A lot of positives tonight but 14 TOS is too much and we have issues on defense that need to improve if we want to win more than one game in the tourney.

nowhere near perfect giving 93 pts will lose you the game 95% of the time.

OM had way too many easy shots from the perimeter. Our defense was not good but in a few spurts, otherwise we did enough to win. We shot FT’s very well and I’m proud of them for the change. Darius Hall had another solid game in 13 minutes and CJ was back for 15 minutes. We have to get CJ playing consistent to be able to let Beard, Barford and Macon rest a little. Barford 31, Beard 30 and Macon 29 minutes is way too much in this style.

I don’t know what it is about teams playing Arkansas, but at the end of games they seem to hit an ungodly percentage of 3 point shots. Yes, it’s true that our 3 point defense is poor, but these guys wouldn’t hit this percentage in practice, with no one guarding them.

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard comments like "XXXXX, who has been struggling from 3-point range this season, is 5 for 7 today . . . " when playing against us.

Well you have to make the tourney first and that is a long way from a given. Still don’t think we have what it takes to win on the road.

[/quote]While I agree Ole Miss made a couple very impressive 3 pointers near the end, my view is it doesn’t matter. If Ole Miss missed those shots they’d just score easy 2 point put backs while the Hogs stood still and enjoyed the view.
