A look at Bielema and the NFL

Here’s a story that covers Bret Bielema’s future in the NFL, but nothing concrete is revealed:

I posted this the other day, but I remember there being a lot of thought that Bielema would end up in the NFL while he was head coach at Wisconsin, primarily because of the number of NFL-ready players Wisconsin was producing. It seems that once you’re identified as NFL potential, it stays with you until you give it a try, which is why he got his shot working with the Patriots as a scout last spring, then in whatever role he had during the season.

I thought that during his Arkansas time. I know he grew up a fan of the Bears.

The quote that I found interesting is the anonymous SEC coach that said he had a good defensive mind, but was “ probably never going to succeed as a head coach having to do head coach things.”

What does that mean?

I guess that’s his opinion. Not sure what he meant because he didn’t go any further than the conclusion.

Two things came to mind when I read “Head Coach things”; 1) hiring staff, 2) handling Alumni/booster clubs/donors, and by that I just mean all of the time needed to do that in a college setting.

For me it is, leadership, specifically leading by example, being selfless and many other characteristics you expect in a leader, Bret lacked many. Hiring, couldn’t agree more there. Also, accountability.

One thing I noticed during one of the programs videos they put out on Twitter the other day, is that CCM is also wearing the Grey sweatshirt gear with the sharpie name on the back that the team is wearing. I like that.

I wish him success in the NFL (for a lot of reasons that have to do with us and BB) but the most I can say about him coaching here was it had some entertaining moments… but not near enough.

Looks like he has a decent chance of becoming DC for the best HC and defensive mind in football history. Sorta puts a big dent in the whole, “he’s a complete drunk idiot and it’s clever to call him elementary school nicknames” narrative”.

We shall see if he becomes - DC. For now, the facts are he :

Left Arkansas in with less returning talent than any coach apart from Jack Crow per long time program insiders,

He was a league worst 11-29 during his five years here.

He molded a team that was mentally weak and prone to gagging away leads that appeared to be damn insurmountable on numerous occasions.

Untalented, unproductive, and mentally soft.

Facts are facts.

Not the Pats DC…Schiano

With no intent to make a positive or negative comment on Coach B, I wondered how the self leaking was going to play out. He may have never been the choice, but I cannot imagine Belichek liking being upstaged.

Well, I’ve never called him nicknames so I’m not in that group.

P.s. Bret’s not the DC, as many figured would happen Bill wised up and went with the better option, Schiano. So he probably never had a decent chance of getting the job, it was probably just a case of him opening his mouth like we know he can do.
