It will be interesting to see who makes the final cut. There are going to be some really, really good players that don’t make this team.
One example of how stacked this team will be is seen in Jackson Cobb. He’s a walk-on from Texarkana (Pleasant Grove), middle infielder, who will likely not make this roster. Cobb’s bat (hits for average and power from left side) and speed (steals lots of bases and routinely legs out extra base hits) fit in well with Coach Van Horn‘s style.
Cobb was committed to Louisiana Lafayette for 2 years, but decomitted soon after tearing his ACL in the first football game of his senior year at PG (he was the leading returning receiver on a team that won state and finished runner up the previous 2 years). He was a fast healer, and actually played travel ball in the spring after the Covid restrictions lifted.
He’s also from a Razorback family. His dad was a freshman on the same team with Van Horn, and his grandfather is a Razorback die hard. Jackson is living the dream right now even being a part of the program… hopefully he can continue to develop and contribute some day.
