I have the Real Hog Authorities at my door preparing to take my credentials away. It was just a frustrating game from beginning to finish. That CBB (Conservative Bad Bielema) showed up again today. Not a good look on national TV for CBB
I believed…
I drank way too much koolaid, and I believed that things would be different.
We still have the same offensive coordinator that doesn’t make adjustments.
We have a defense that still isn’t fundamentally sound 5 years later still missing the same tackles from year 1. Special teams hasn’t been a strength at any point in the last 5 seasons and into this one. Countless reoccurring year in and year out issues that are hyped to be better.
I wish someone would have woke me up before I made my 10-2 prediction for this season public. Had I been koolade free I may have predicted 5-7 being generous. Mulligan?
My “awoken” prediction for the buye week.
Hogs will not lose
We will replace our starting field goal kicker
We will hear much naysaying until the kick off of the what some are calling the Hot Seat Bowl between our hogs and the aggies in two weeks.
After 2 Games the Projected Winner is TheSaintlyHog 6-6, #41 or worst, 18TD
Hogs on pace to finish 6-6, being ranked #41 or worst, and Austin Allen on pace for 12 TDs
Long way to go, but a loss in Heat Seat Bowl may make the season unbearable to even last to November. The stat of being outscored 70 - 0 in 2nd Half in last 3 Power 5 games tells you all you need to know. CBB just needs some wins. Otherwise, the closer he gets to that $15 million buyout, the more he puts Long in the crosshairs of his decisions. It could become an ironic paradox should Long be fired for having to give CBB $15 million to leave; when CBP was fired to avoid paying anything for any possible lawsuits that never existed.
6 years later and here we are… big bag of nothing. Smh
After Week 3 with Hawgs idle, we have new Projected Winner, by virtue of dominating performance of Mississippi State.
The Projected Winner is Bakedhog 5-7, #41 or worst, 22TD
Hogs on pace to finish 5-7, being ranked #41 or worst, and Austin Allen on pace for 12 TDs
Needless to say a win this weekend is essential to have any hope of normalcy for decent season. A lost and the wheels may just fall off where even Long and the most diehard CBB supporters can see.
Week 5 and no one was eliminated.
Austin Allen is now on pace to throw 21 TDs. Add lackluster play by Ole Miss & Miss State and we have a new projected winner.
Arnold Ziffel 6-6, #41 or worst, 21TD
Are you saying that as of right now, based on who is left to play that Hogs will be favored by non partisans to win 6 of the remaining 8?
I think Hogs beat South Carolina and Miss State, Ole Miss and maybe even LSU continue to look weak that may happen but for now, we just beat NMS; so we need an SEC win to better understand.
HA, I understand your point, however, I said this on another thread. After AUB, I can see AR running the table. Mistake, Ole Piss, Missery, LSWhooo, and Coastal Carolina (I know not in that order). Then we’ll go to what some call a toilet bowl. I think we win that as well. Looking at next year’s schedule, we start with three cupcakes. Very likely, we go into AUB next year on a nine game winning streak. Then we play AUB, aTm, and Bama back to back, then have six games against teams that are struggling (3 may have new coaches next year), and another bowl. Then start the next season with three mediocre teams, before aTm. Week two that year is open, could be a bye, could be a good team, and could be our East opponent Kentucky. We could literally be on a 10/11 game win streak going into aTm in 2019.
I saw someone say they expected Bret to be here for awhile. Looking at the future schedule and the issues other conference members are having, I can see the events playing out like I described and Bret getting a lengthy extension, a big pay raise, and a HUGE BUYOUT clause, all for winning games against down teams. So, my guess is the way things are looking we are stuck with him.
Incredibly that ain’t so half-baked bakedhog. Probably a lot of people don’t want to read that to believe it may actually happen that we may be one of the best mediocre teams in SEC in two years.
But for the purposes of the game and in the spirit of fun, I am just going by how teams are rated week to week as to would be favored to win, not put the emotion of what I think may happen. Kind of like how AP rankings go up and down each week. How we may beat South Carolina will go a Long way to help us get a boast in the perception of CBB and team as for a while national media was preparing to bury him.
Like I said I understand where you are coming from. I also trust what I’m seeing. After AUB we have five very weak teams. Mistake is being lauded for the thumping they put on LSU, after this past weekend it doesn’t look very impressive anymore, not to mention what both AUB and GA did to Mistake. I think the USCe game is a toss up and also the difference between 7-5 and 8-4. But saying that, ill bring up the Petrino haters, 10-3 and 11-2 wasn’t good enough because we only beat mediocre teams. Guess what, after AUB we will play nine mediocre teams, before playing AUB again, then we will play two good teams and a team that seems to always beat Bret, then 6 games against mediocre opponents. I know I’m skipping ahead, but if winning 10/11 games against inferior competition isn’t that good, then why is winning 8/9 now better? I think you get my point.
Baked, it’s probably the post embedded you are referring to, regarding the longevity of Long and Bielema. And I firmly believe it’s due to the reasons stated. The timing may be off on when the contract extensions come for each. I initially thought it would happen before the '18 season.
The soft schedule, compared to our norm, was in the back of my mind at the time, but now your opinion makes a lot of sense for the timing of the BB extension. Long may wait until after or during the '18 season to extend BB and grant the huge raise, but maybe, at least hopefully, not the large buyout.
Long will, IMO, also benefit from the sterling job he and all his coaches are doing, while in addition, running a clean program. Long may come out of this as the highest paid AD in the country. All this started by the basketball scandal initiated by the FBI.
Timing could not have been better for Long and Bielema; took all the pressure off in-spite of what the fans may feel and/or believe. Depending upon one’s point of view, we are either stuck or blessed. On-field performance be-damned.
Not only do I get your point, I think it laced with critical thinking. Something that society as a whole tends to struggle with when views are different. For the life of me; and after 6 years, I think I have yet to successfully explain to any Petrino hater how I can feel that Long was within his right, and had just cause to fire Petrino, but I would not have done. I could argue my view for what I thought was in the best interest of the program. But I am not AD. Long made a decision to go in different direction, but that does not dismiss his overall accountability of performance for the program. If CBB was winning 9, 10 , 11 games I don’t think it would be much discussion. Fact is he is NOT. Think how easy CBP’s job may have been if he only needed to focus on his moral obligations, and .500 mediocre football would have been okay. In fact, I don’t think you need to pay $4.4 million to achieve what we have accomplished over last 5 years. Hire an educator, maybe someone out of the UA faculty that is an ordained minister and former football player, and let them lead the program. Serve notice and let the Razorback nation know, there is no such thing a CBP lover, but those that loved his winning. For those that criticized CBP because he apparently was not winning enough (losing to Bama), and playing poor defense despite 10 and 11 wins seasons, so be it; but which is it, the winning is no longer expected in favor of being able to market the phrase we are “Uncommon” & doing it the “Right Way” ? If it is the latter, then CBB has the cushiest job on the planet.
