Are team stats for Hawks available? Looks like both teams shot poorly from FT line. Just wonder what the FT stats for Hawks in OT were?

I have not seen Perry shoot FTs this poorly in the games I have watched.

Here’s a link to keep up. Just choose the Hawks from the drop down. Rebounding and FT look like the main issues with last night. The Hawks press all game so they won’t win the rebounding battle most games but that margin is too much. Also, I mentioned that FT’s were a weakness for the Hawks in my Real Deal reports. Justice has to get better there.

Thanks man. That is big help.

Hawks not looking good so far in Dallas. Looks like they are about to be 0-2. Not sure how good the teams are they are playing, but I know the Hawks were suppose to be a top 10 team and neither team they’ve played so far is listed as a top 25 team. Gotta wonder if the whole “Hog 5” thing has put a lot of pressure on them or painted targets on their back. Hopefully they can bounce back in their last 2 games.

ya really disappointing so far. I would like to see some analysis to put these stats and game results in context. what has happened to these guys since all the national top ten talk?

That leads me to a question that I have chosen not to ask before. If these guys are all so good that a major college teams wants every one of them, shouldn’t they be like the “Dream Team” was in the Olympics (back in the day?) I have never followed AAU ball, so maybe what I think is the case, just isn’t, but I would assume that most AAU teams have several high D-1 players, but do most have FIVE high D-1 players? I would just assume (again, maybe wrongly) that any AAU team that had five players all good enough to all get high major offers (being to 5 different major teams or all the same team isn’t an issue) would be world beaters. I have assumed that most teams are made up of one or two high major kids, several mid major kids, and the rest even less than that.

Again, I don’t follow AAU ball, maybe lots of teams have 5 or 6 or whatever players who are going to high D-1 schools.

Don’t know the answer, so I looked up each name on those other two teams. There was 6 players between the two teams found on either 247 or ESPN, the Hawks have all but one player on one of those two sites. Though I did find several players on those other two teams designated as 2017 players.

Edit: As a caveat, I don’t know if all their names are listed correct, or they’re rated by the names listed on the rosters - ex. AR Hawks has a player listed as Derrick Joe, but he is listed on most of the sites as Isaiah Joe

Can’t speak to the talent level of the other teams, but what I do know is the Hawks were something like 35-5 in the circuit last year. Each guy we signed is talented and worthy of a scholarship.

This is somewhat typical of Arkansas-based grassroots teams. They do really well at 14, 15 and 16U but lose a little success at the 17U level. My theory in that has always been that talent is more distributed across teams when they are younger. When they get older, they tend to gravitate to and team up on the strong programs.

That said, I think the Hawks could have just had a rough start. I’ve watched a lot of travel ball, and they stack up pretty well. These rankings that are cited in this thread are highly unreliable. Don’t pay attention to them. I’ve tracked that group that does them for years and they aren’t valid.

Lot of basketball to be played. I wouldn’t allow yourself to speculate much right now.

Back in the 90s, Arkansas did well in the 17U level with the Arkansas Wings program. Won a couple of nationals. You were probably too young at that time. But I agree that changed in this century and is more like you described.

Yeah, I was young then, but I’m aware of the championships. And, yep, the landscape has changed dramatically.
