Why did we go back to a man defense?

I think the last few minutes, Gafford started calming down. Now if we can get the three SR guards to play within themselves we may win this thing
Glad we fought back! But we have got to secure rebounds and take away the 3 ball from them. They’ve gotten at least 6 points off us not securing rebounds and their getting too many open looks from 3.
Gafford has got to fight for position better than he’s been. Our guys are trying to get him the ball, but he’s just giving up position to easily.
Need a strong push start the half and make Butler chase us instead of the other way around.
We are lucky to be only down 5.
We were doing great with a mix of 2-3/3-2 zone, mix in a little matchup zone, but they get an open 3 when we go back to man.
NO MORE MAN DEFENSE!!! THEIR KILLING US WITH THAT!!
Butler is out rebounding us by 10. That shouldn’t happen this next half.
Attack the basket and make them foul.
We should stick to some pressure after made baskets and then fall back into a matchup zone for the remainder of the game and forget man to man defense, we simply aren’t disciplined enough to play good man to man defense in the half court.
We don’t switch well, communicate, blockout and rebound and a team disciplined like Butler can get way to many open shots, layups and offensive rebounds.
Hopefully, Coach Anderson understands this and puts our guys in the best situation to try and advance today.
Beard has played a horrible game, maybe he gets it figured out and can help in the 2nd half.
Will we be the 1st SEC team to lose or can these guys dig down deep and fight to win this game?
We’ll all find out the answer to that question in about 1 hour.

Get Beard out, he’s not moving like Jones does and it’s slowing our offense and defense.
We’ve quit passing and started dribbling and it always hurts us,because we start throwing up bad shots ! WPS

[/quote]Butler is slightly better, but certainly, depending on how the ball bounces, we can win. I can hope; but, at this point, I wouldn’t bet on Arkansas
3 ball is killing us. We’ve got to stop that and make them do something else.
We’ve also gone back to one guy is taking a shot and 4 guys are standing around not rebounding. We’ve got to get those offensive rebounds.
You can tell the difference in the teams. Butler’s a step quicker and set good screens for their shooters. We don’t and we’re always late to their shooters
So, Coach A comes right back out in the man to man defense and we are now down again by double digits.
Terrible coaching decision!
Beard shouldn’t be in the game, he’s not helping on either end of the floor.
